Ah tubers and bulbs…where to begin?
My dahlia tubers live in sawdust and cardboard boxes over winter. Early spring or late fall, dahlias are divided. All spring and summer the tubers grow, producing more tubers and lots of flowers. Tubers are dug up around the first frost, late fall. Then tossed back in their boxes and sawdust until spring. This year I will leave a few in the ground and divide the others to share the wealth.
In 2024, around 60 dahlias were planted.
In 2025, over 110 dahlia tubers were planted.
April 12, 2026: I have 112 planted thus far, with many extra tubers to plant more and share a few.
